Samantha Strom

Clinical Graduate Student Intern

perimenopause

Parenting is amazing, and it’s also stressful. Navigating the fertility process, pregnancy, and parenting can put our nervous systems into an ongoing state of fight or flight. Stress can become further exacerbated by (extremely!) common cognitive patterns like perfectionism, ruminating, problem solving, and self criticism.

Samantha uses somatic and mindfulness techniques to help clients regulate their nervous system and reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. She is certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), an evidence based mind-body approach based on neuroscience. In addition to regulating emotions, PRT can help people recover from the physical symptoms of stress like chronic pain, migraines, and fatigue. Samantha also draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS) or “parts” work to help clients build self compassion for themselves and explore their underlying emotions. She works from an anti-oppression lens and believes in intersectional feminism, social justice, and Health at Every Size. Ultimately, she is honored to partner with clients to build joyful lives with themselves and their families!

Samantha is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through William & Mary. She previously worked as a certified coach where she helped hundreds of clients navigate career changes, find work/life balance, and manage people and conflict. She also holds a Master’s in Organization Development from American University and a Bachelors in Environmental Policy from Middlebury College. In her free time, she chases her toddler, plays ultimate frisbee, wrestles her rambunctious dog, and attempts to maintain her team’s title of bocce league champion.
