Chris has a passion for helping pregnant and postpartum mothers get the help and support they deserve. She provides both individual counseling and medication management to women struggling with depression, anxiety and perinatal issues.

Chris is a dually certified nurse practitioner in Women’s Health and Psychiatric-Mental Health and has treated women suffering from depression and anxiety in her role of Assistant Professor at UNC Department of Psychiatry. She served as the Associate Director of Obstetrical Liaison and Community Outreach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Perinatal Psychiatry Program. During her work at the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders, she helped develop an innovative perinatal mental health treatment model within the OB-GYN High-risk clinics. She founded the UNC Perinatal Depression Support group in 2006 that has served over five hundred women. Chris was also a member of the planning team instrumental in opening the first in-patient Perinatal Mental Health unit in the country. She recently completed a two year term as board chair for Postpartum Support International.
 

Chris has published several scholarly articles and is frequently invited as a speaker on the topic of maternal mental health at national conferences and trainings for medical and mental health providers.
